Press Release
CoachDeck LLC partners with STOP Sports Injuries Organization
San Diego, CA Aug 11, 2010 – CoachDeck LLC, (www.coachdeck.com) a
leader in providing training resources for youth sports coaches, has
announced a partnership with the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports
Medicine (AOSSM) and their subsidiary STOP Sports Injuries.org.
The development of the STOP (Sports Trauma and Overuse Prevention)
Sports Injuries campaign was initiated by the AOSSM in early 2007.
“CoachDeck is extremely concerned with safety and injury avoidance,”
said Brian Gotta, President of CoachDeck. “We made it a point to include
safety tips for coaches in each deck of cards we manufacture and have
published numerous articles on the topic. Our mission is to provide
materials and information that give volunteer coaches the tools they
need to impart the proper athletic instruction, and do so in a fun and
risk-reduced environment. Partnering with STOP Sports Injuries will
allow us to better spread the message of injury prevention and
management.”
Lisa Weisenberger, AOSSM Director of Communications, said, "The STOP
Sports Injuries campaign decided to partner with CoachDeck because it
allows us to help educate coaches and their staff, on a grass roots
level, about the need for awareness of youth sports overuse and trauma
issues."
STOP Sports Injuries.org, was developed to prevent sports related
injuries through education with an initiative not only to raise
awareness and provide education on injury reduction, but also highlights
how playing safe and smart can enhance and extend a child's athletic
career, improve teamwork, reduce obesity rates and create a lifelong
love of exercise and healthy activity.
The campaign's message underscores the problems of youth overuse and
trauma injuries and emphasizes the expertise of our coalition of
experts, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons,
American Academy of Pediatrics, National Athletic Trainers' Association,
National Strength and Conditioning Association, American Medical Society
for Sports Medicine Sports Physical Therapy Section, Pediatric
Orthopaedic Society of North America and SAFE Kids USA.
“As we continue to reach out to the community youth sports marketplace
in grassroots fashion, we will now be able to deliver an enhanced
message of safety awareness,” said Gotta. “If more kids play sports and
stay healthy longer, we all win.”
